Volkswagen Moves Ahead with Plans to Conquer Auto Industry

It's easy to get big-headed and over-ambitious when you're sitting towards the top of the stack. But for Volkswagen, moving up two rungs of the latter and achieving automotive world domination isn't just a bold idea; it's a legitimate company goal. For those in the Boston area who haven't been tuned in to all the VW buzzy, the motivated automaker plans to surpass the likes of GM and Toyota by 2018 and win over the number one spot.

An aggressive goal? Absolutely. Within the realm of possibility? Boston Volkswagen thinks so. Since Volkswagen first announced its daring plan, the company has been met with a whole slew of skepticism and naysayers. But heeding others criticism has never been a habit of VW. Therefore, the automaker is carving its own innovative path and moving forward with the utmost determination.

Christian Klinger, Volkswagen Global Sales and Marketing Chief, portrays the brand's attitude saying, "Three or four years ago, we created a 10- or 11-year strategy. Since we announced the plan, a lot of people have said, 'Go for it, [but] we don't believe you at all.' I'm sorry - we're going for it!"1

No apologies necessary VW; [Dealer] supports you completely. In addition to pumping out highly-impressive new Volkswagen models, the automaker has a well-though-out plan of attack that includes targeting the global market, increasing plant capacity and integrating minor adaptions into VW models based on local market demands.

Now, we hope that automotive enthusiasts in the Boston area aren't included in the category of VW skeptics we mentioned earlier. But whether you are in full support of the company's bold goal or wavering on the fence, feel free to contact Boston Volkswagen or stop by 43 North Beacon Street Watertown, MA 02472 and let us know what you think. We're always up for engaging in a good Volkswagen discussion.
