Imagine lying on the beach, watching the sunset and feeling the warm ocean breeze. Then imagine crawling into your VW for a cozy, comfortable night's sleep? With the new Volkswagen California Beach van, that dream is entirely possible.
A fusion of the original VW California and the VW Caravelle, the California Beach comes with enough seating to fit seven full grown people. Fold down the middle row and you will find a bed that covers the van's width. The second sleeping option comes from a pop-up section of the roof which offers a nice double bed. In addition to nighttime resting, the California Beach provides a generous selection of daytime lounging possibilities. One crafty sliding door holds a portable table while the liftgate stores two folding chairs. For those who wish to relax inside the Volkswagen super-van, two front bucket seats swivel around and serve as make-shift love seats.
When the camping paradise comes to a close and it's time to hit the road, a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine sets the VW California Beach back in motion. Van owners have the choice of either a five or six-speed manual transmission. The five-speed offers 114 hp and a combined 33.6 miles per gallon while the six-speed boasts 140 hp and a slightly reduced 30.6 mpg.
For now, the brand-new California Beach van can only be purchased in the UK. However, with a vibrant yellow exterior and Takato color-striped interior, Boston Volkswagen can't help but visualize the family-friendly, vacation van pulled apart and parked along the gorgeous California shoreline.
Until that day comes, Boston Volkswagen has several other spacious new Volkswagen models, such as the Volkswagen Routan, at 43 North Beacon Street Watertown, MA. As always, we invite you to test drive any model you'd like. Stop by in person or contact us to set up a time that works for you.
