As the Leaves Fall, Volkswagen Sales Go Up

On an individual model level, Volkswagen sales have been looking good. Models such as the Volkswagen Jetta are up as far as 62-percent. No surprise considering the vehicle rolled out on a platform specifically tailored to the U.S. market. But good news for Boston Volkswagen, and for VW fans all over, the automaker has seen a surge in total average sales across all models as well!
To be specific, let's take a look at October. The fall festivity filled month saw a 40-percent increase from the same time last year with a total of 28,028 vehicles sold. While plenty of great new Volkswagen models factored into this number, the VW Passat deserves a standing ovation. Hitting an all-time high since December of 2005, the Passat alone saw 5,040 in sales.
Jonathan Browning, President and CEO of the VW American sector, says, "As the all-new Passat and Beetle start to enter the market place, demand for Volkswagen vehicles has already exceeded last year's annual volume in the first 10 months of the year."1 Browning also let it slip that the automaker is circulating talk about expansion in the domestic market. A potential seven-seat SUV and Polo-based supermini are currently under consideration.
