Volkswagen Shoots High for 2018

For a company to find success, it's sometimes necessary to lay out one clear goal. Just throw it down, plain and simple. In the case of Volkswagen, this strategy seems to be working quite beautifully. Company bosses gave Jonathan Browning, Chief Executive of VW Group of America, a solitary task: sell 1-million models annually in America by 2018.

Piece of cake, right? Well, not quite. Such a feat is large for even the most successful automaker. However, just because the aim is high, doesn't mean Volkswagen isn't shooting at it with unbelievable power. Thanks to redesigned models like the VW Jetta and the all-new VW Passat, the German automaker has seen sales increase by 24-percent so far this year.

In order to launch towards the title of world's number one automaker in a short span of six-years, Browning and other company leaders are gathering the troops and aligning strategies. Sales tactics so far include investing in a new U.S. plant, building on the success of the Jetta, Passat and Beetle and hyping up other models such as the Volkswagen Golf. In reference to the automaker's design momentum, Browning says, "We are not short of product ideas and concepts to flesh out the range."1

Naturally, we at Boston Volkswagen have the utmost confidence in our favorite automotive brand, no matter how daring its goals may be. In fact, consumers need not look further than our own lot to find the VW dedication displayed in every new Volkswagen model we have available.
